About the Health Center
The Dow Zanghi Student Health Center provides primary medical care to all students. The Center is staffed by a Physician Assistant and a Medical Assistant, and is operated by Mount Sinai Beth Israel Business Health.
All students, including commuters and those living in other residence halls, may use the Health Center free of charge with a current student ID card.
Services include:
- Diagnosis and treatment
- Follow-up and evaluation
- Health education
- Women’s health (including GYN)
- Writing prescriptions*
- Flu shots*
- Blood draw*
- Referrals
*Lab work, prescriptions, and some immunizations (such as MMR or flu shots) carry a fee, which may be charged to the student’s health insurance.

Thursdays, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, in-person and telehealth appointments.

After Hours & Urgent Care
When the Health Center is closed, or for urgent (non-emergency) medical issues, students may visit a Mount Sinai location or CityMD. Visit the links for the full, up-to-date list of locations and hours near you.
Note: these services are not free. Students must use their health insurance or pay out of pocket. We recommend calling ahead to confirm hours and availability.
Fastest option: Virtual Urgent Care
See a provider from your phone or laptop, no travel required, through Mount Sinai Virtual Urgent Care (available in New York and Florida). Hours: Monday–Friday 8:30 AM – 10:30 PM, Saturday–Sunday 9 AM – 7 PM.

Valine graduated from St. John’s University in 2008 with a BS and certification in Physician Assistant Studies. She has experience in pediatric primary care, cardiac catheterization & electrophysiology, OB/GYN, and occupational health.
Medical Assistant
Susan Mclaughlin

Susan is an AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with five years of experience. Before joining Mount Sinai, she worked in a high-volume cardiology office and a high-volume family medicine office.
Health Plan & Immunization Requirements
Northeastern University Student Health Plan (NUSHP)
The Northeastern University Student Health Plan (NUSHP) is a self-insured student health plan that includes nationwide and international medical insurance, plus enrollment in a Basix Dental Discount Program. The medical insurance administrator is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBS). All undergraduate students are automatically enrolled every plan year, as dictated by state law. This law is applicable to all campuses in the United States. The plan year is September 1 to August 31. Students can submit a health plan waiver if they would like to opt out of NUSHP because they already have comparable coverage. Immunization Requirements and Processes
Documentation of immunizations is required for all students in Massachusetts, Oakland, New York, NYC Scholars, London Scholars, and N.U.in. Required vaccinations are determined by state and local health departments.
